Collection: Derek Erdman

Derek Erdman is an American performance artist and painter based in Chicago. Born in Ohio in 1973, he learned graphic design while working at Kinko's and taught himself to paint by copying vintage clip art. Derek has created over 6,000 paintings since 2001, working with an accessible "quantity over quality" approach to make original art affordable. He has been an editorial illustrator for The Stranger and Chicago Reader, created widely-publicized pranks and performances, and runs a mail art Friend Club with over 2,300 members. His colorful, playful work has been exhibited internationally and his departure from Seattle was called a "local tragedy" by The Stranger.
