Wijtze Valkema is a commercial illustrator and designer based in Meppel, Netherlands. Born in 1983, he graduated in Graphic Design in 2005 after completing internships in the Netherlands and USA before starting his freelance career. Since 2012, he has focused primarily on illustration, developing a mid-century inspired, upbeat vector style characterized by bold colors, graphic shapes, and playful characters. Wijtze works mostly in the editorial field and has collaborated with agencies, publishers, and brands including Google, WIRED, Algemeen Dagblad, Het Financieele Dagblad, and Women's Health Magazine. He is the creator of "Drip for Drip, " a collaborative project trading illustrated paper coffee cup designs with other artists. Represented by his own studio Drip For Drip, he sells prints through RoomFifty.
