Pavel Popov

Pavel Popov is an illustrator and graphic artist born in Moldova and based in Turin, Italy. Known by the moniker "Pencilshape, " he creates playful illustrations using very few lines that combine reality and abstraction. Inspired by the design of objects and minimalist approaches, Pavel's work has appeared in The New Yorker, Tribune, Weekendavisen, and various international publications. His practice includes creating zines such as "Ties that Bind, " a 16-page study illustrating links between couples represented as figures cut out of a single sheet of paper.
